FAQs

A few questions we get asked on the down low. If you don’t see an answer to your question here … hit us up!

Do I need to have used a spray can before?

Absolutely not! Sip & Spray is all about exploring something new and a bit different. We’re beginner friendly for every type of class, workshop or session we run.

What do I get to take home?

Depending on which class you choose you can end up with a canvas, t-shirt, model train, sneakers (you’d have brought your own to paint), spray can - you get the idea, there’s always something to take home. Plus, you’ll have some dope flicks and memories to share for years to come… or at least until the next session you do!

How do I book in a class?

All our classes are booked through Class Bento. For group bookings you can get in touch with us directly via our contact page.

I can’t quite see what I’m looking for?

That’s ok! We’re a creative crew so let’s chat about creating something totally bespoke for you. Just hit us up on our contact page and start the conversation.

Will I get paint on me?

Part of the fun is getting a little bit messy. We provide gloves, masks and ponchos (should you need it) but we totally encourage everyone to come in clothes, shoes, accessories etc. that you won’t mind getting a bit of paint on.

GRAFFITI GLOSSARY

Yep, we use some different language at Sip & Spray. It’s a big part of the culture. You can check what we’re going on about here!

Graf or Graff

Just a little shortening of the term Graffiti.

Writer

An artist who does graffiti - specifically focused on the lettering of their tag and mastery of their style.

Street Artist

Just like a writer (and the terms are blurry). Usually more dedicated to holistic artistic endeavours beyond graffiti lettering and large scale public artworks.

Tag

Like a signature, it’s a writer/artists nickname or nom de plume https://youtu.be/EL0IxThCZWU

Piece

A more elaborate and detailed artwork made up of letters, usually the artists ‘tag’. It’s short for masterpiece.

Crew

A group of people who all do graffiti together - usually identified with a crew name that is often reduced to an acronym or a few letters. Eg. Krosswerdz Artists - KWA, The Most Dedicated - TMD etc.

Markers

Typically paint pens or ink pens. They come in a variety of styles and uses from Posca paint pens to home made, super wide ink markers. Often used for tagging (writing your tag on things) but also for canvas artworks and sketching

Black Book

An art journal of sorts, writers and artists use it to sketch up ideas and share their style with others in their black books.
